Hawle Synoflex - Wide tolerance pipe couplings

Water losses are a common issue facing many communities around the world. A large percentage of water supply lines are at, or nearing, the end of their useful life. These older pipes are primarily made from ductile and cast iron, concrete, or asbestos cement. In some regions, these pipes may be over a century old. Older pipes are often retrofitted with plastic materials that are lighter and more flexible.
Connecting pipes of different materials
Properly fitting newer plastic pipes to older concrete and metal ones can be a challenge due to size and coupling type mismatches. Synoflex range makes this process easier with its high tolerance, multirange restraint couplings which were specifically designed to connect dissimilar pipes.
Hawle Synoflex multirange restraint joints can connect various combinations of dissimilar pipe materials, including metal to plastic pipe connections, such as cast iron pipe to PVC pipe, or HDPE pipe to ductile iron pipe. Of course, pipe connections such as metal - metal or plastic - plastic are also possible with Synoflex couplings.

Some of the important product benefits of the Synoflex connections include:
- Peace of mind knowing that connections will last a long time
- A quick, safe, and simple repair solution
- A reduction of stocking costs thanks to a “one size fits all” approach
- Durability and corrosion resistance
- Suitability for nearly all pipe materials
- Reusability
- Possibility of above ground and underground installations.
How to install Synoflex couplings
One of the main advantages of Hawle Synoflex couplings are their ease of installation. Installing the couplings can be divided into the following simple steps:
Step 1
Clean rust, dirt, burrs, and other damage from pipes.
Step 2
Ensure chosen fitting matches pipe OD by checking the provided table.
Step 3
Select correct insertion depth from provided table.
Step 4
Tighten bolts with the correct torque.
Step 5
Conduct a pressure test on the pipe and coupling. If pressure test fails, reinstall fitting and retest, if successful, installation is complete.
Pipe connections for every situation
Synoflex offers several pipe connections that can serve a wide variety of needs. Here are just a few examples:
Synoflex coupling, Synoflex flange adapter and Syno2000 connector:
Corrosion resistant adapters which provide ample restraint connections for all common water supply pipes (i.e. steel, DCI, PE and PVC). This product is particularly effective for pipe replacement and repair and may be used for water transport, water distribution, and maintenance/repair. Some of their technical features include:
- EN 14525 compliance
- Flexible gasket
- Flexible Synoflex grip ring
- Bolts reversible 180°
- Angle compensation max. 8° (+/- 4° each socket).

A special coupling with a ZAK outlet. This device can be used to install home service connections where newer, plastic based piping needs to be tapped to older pipes made from steel, cast iron, and other metals. SynoZAK adapter is compatible with service valves and fittings from the entire ZAK-family of house connections and provides a durable and corrosion resistant connection to service pipes.
The Synoflex inventor deserves a medal.

Synoflex end cap:
A versatile endcap that can be utilized in the ways shown below:
-
Distribution lines can be terminated further from house connections and conversely reconnected with greater ease.
-
The tightness and leakage rate of newly installed lines can be easily tested by installing a pressure gauge into the multiuse Synoflex end cap.
-
If line pressure is being tested using air, the multiuse Synoflex end cap can be fitted with and air valve thus simplifying the process.
-
The Synoflex durability and corrosion resistance ensure that it provides a leak free pipe termination that can be easily reconnected in the future.
