Butterfly valves in Cork City
The Chetwynd reservoir was constructed in the late 1970s and is one of the largest and most critical reservoirs serving the Cork Harbour and City Water Supply Scheme. The works were required to facilitate the decommissioning of the more than 56.000m3 reservoir before major remedial works will be undertaken.
A pressure regulation valve of Cla-Val DN800 was installed and before and after the PRV, 2pcs. Hawle Butterfly Valves in DN800 PN16 and at the inlet and outlet 2pcs. Hawle Butterfly Valves DN1000 PN16 were installed. The DN800 Butterfly Valves will be fitted with an actuator. The overall project was started already in 2018 and the whole installation was done in the beginning of 2019. Since Hawle Butterfly Valves are drop-tight in both directions, it was no problem to rotate the Butterfly Valve due to limited space and install it the other way round.
