Municipal Utilities Gleisdorf
Given the high cost of purchasing water for the municipal utilities, it is important to those responsible to keep leakage rates and water losses as low as possible and to meter all water withdrawals and consumption from the network. To achieve this, the municipal utilities decided in 2019 to equip all hydrants with the Hawle.live CAP. As a result, it is now possible to detect any unauthorized hydrant withdrawals, and therefore also any uncounted hydrants or defective hydrants. On a day-to-day basis, this means that the municipal utilities can fully monitor and document the entire water system. The operational statistics show that around 4,000 actuations have taken place on the 350 Hawle. live CAPs installed. On the basis of this data, it is possible for the municipal utilities to carry out targeted checks on hydrants that have been in operation very often or where a defect is suspected. A further benefit is that the DMA (district metered areas) can be monitored digitally in real time. If consumption in an area soars, this could indicate a pipe rupture or hydrant withdrawal. With the help of Hawle.live CAP, unregulated hydrant withdrawals can be quickly ruled out. This makes it possible to locate the fault more quickly and maintain a low leak rate. The Hawle.live CAP is not the only digital product the municipal utilities rely on: The H4.live hydrant has also been in use since 2023:
"The great advantage of the H4.live is that it continuously tracks all actuations and inspections carried out on the hydrants. For example, we can track at any time if the hydrant is not completely closed after being actuated. This is particularly important in winter when frost damage could occur, resulting in high consequential costs, if the hydrant is not completely closed. Another major advantage is the cap which is prepared for noise data loggers. This offers the perfect attachment point for leak detection. A product with many functions." -Raimund Wiesenhofer
