CO₂ offsetting with genuine added value

Sustainability is more than just a goal for us − it is also a commitment. Since 2022, E. Hawle has been offsetting its Scope 1 & 2 CO emissions in order to reduce its ecological footprint.

Currently, it is impossible for us to achieve completely emission-free production despite the fact that we have already implemented a large number of measures to reduce our emissions, such as switching to 100% green electricity, expanding our photovoltaic systems (390 kWp) and developing energy-efficient solutions for the new logistics center. For this reason, we are focusing on specific climate-protection projects that are designed to offset emissions while simultaneously generating social improvements.

In 2024, we signed up to the Gold Standard project “Water is Life” in Madagascar. This project brings clean potable water to over 80,000 people in rural areas by constructing wells equipped with hand pumps, and solar-powered water systems. In a country where only 54% of the population have access to safe water, this represents a crucial step towards improving living conditions. In addition to reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases, the project helps to create local jobs and sensitize the population on how to use water sustainably.

Our carbon footprint in 2024 was 262 tons of CO2eq, most of which was attributable to the use of heating oil and fuels. By switching the Industriestraße heating system to district heating and building the new powder coating plant in Frankenmarkt, we will be able to dispense with heating oil in future and reduce our footprint even further.

By offsetting our CO₂ emissions, we are not only making a contribution to climate protection, but also improving the quality of life of people in need. This is simply because water and life are inseparable!
